Toni Bracher Lawrence is a graduate of Waltrip Class of 1965. She is currently City of Houston (Texas) Council Member.
Kenneth L Armbrister is a 1965 graduate of Waltrip. He was a U.S. Senator from 1987 to 2007. He currently serves as Texas Governor Rick Perry’s Director of Legislative Affairs.
Waltrip is the only high school in Houston to win the city championship in football and basketball in the same school year . 1966 1967. Only two boys played on both of those two teams Tim Duff and David Yaege.
Shelley Duvall is a 1967 Graduate of Waltrip High School. Duvall's film career began when Robert Altman discovered her in Houston while filming Brewster McCloud in 1970. He gave her a small part in the film. Duvall was given larger roles in later Altman films including McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Thieves Like Us, Nashville, 3 Women, and Popeye. Since Popeye, Duvall has only appeared in a few films. She has produced high-quality children's programming for cable TV and home video. She has won numerous awards as the producer of "Faerie Tale Theatre," "Shelley Duvall's Tall Tales," and "Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories." Shelley was also in "The Shining."
Debbie (Young) Riddle is a 1967 graduate of Waltrip and is the State Representative District 150 in Texas.

Deborah Brezina graduated from Waltrip in 1970. Her new book, The Spirit of Churchill, passes on the legacy of Winston Churchill to a new generation and delivers lessons of history to a post 9/11 world. She serves on the National Advisory Board of the Churchill Archives Centre, Cambridge University and the Board of Trustees of the President James Monroe Memorial Foundation, Richmond, Virginia. She is an author, educator, and college lecturer, and serves on the faculty of Summit Ministries. Deborah has authored a high school curriculum entitled A Legacy of Liberty which chronicles the historical roots of government and law. The actor Patrick Swayze graduated from Waltrip in 1971. His films include Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Skatetown USA, Red Dawn, Roadhouse & many others.
Barbara Bracher Olson, a conservative commentator on CNN. Graduated from Waltrip High School 1972. Barbara Olson was killed on September 11, 2001, when the airplane she had just boarded for Los Angeles was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the Pentagon. Barbara was married to Theodre Olson - the 42nd United States Solicitor General, serving from June 2001 to July 2004. Barbara Bracher Olson was also SISTER of the current City of Houston Council Member Toni Bracher Lawrence mentioned above. Barbara authored "Hell to Pay: The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton" AND "The Final Days: The Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House."
Debra Maffet graduated Waltrip in 1975 and was named Miss America 1983.
Judge David Patronella took the bench as presiding judge of Harris County Justice of the Peace Court (Precinct 1, Place 2) in 1989. He serves as Justice of the Peace for Precinct One, Place Two, supervising a staff of forty clerks and presiding over one of the busiest courts in the state. He brings to the job four terms of experience in the Texas House of Representatives where he authored over sixty pieces of legislation and was Chairman of HarrisCounty's Legislative Delegation. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Patronella was a civil attorney in private practice. He has also completed two terms as chairman of the Justice of the Peace Section for the State Bar of Texas. Van Malone - (according to Wikipedia) Professional American football wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns. Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tmapa Bay Buccaneers. Van Malone (born July 1, 1970 in Houston, Texas) is a former safety in the National Football League. He played his entire career from 1994–1997 for the Detroit Lions. He is the current cornerbackscoach for the Texas A&M Aggies. (Not sure of the year he graduated. Maybe 1987)
