She was born June 13, 1949 in Houston, Texas to James Parnell Roy and Kathryn Hayes (deceased). She graduated from Waltrip High School in 1967. She attended St. Edwards University in Austin where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts Administration in 1993. She moved to Lubbock in 2002. She married William Gelber on June 8, 1984 in Houston, Texas. She was a dancer and choreographer for years with Patsy Swayze's Houston Jazz Ballet Company. She choreographed Andre Previn's last concert as conductor of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. In her twenty's, she raced Formula One racing cars in Mexico. Later she was Merlin the Magician's assistant for ten years at the Texas Renaissance Festival where she met her husband, William. She was a free spirit, who loved her children and her animals. She loved dancing, choreography, and teaching theatre to students of all ages. Survivors include: husband, William Gelber of Lubbock; three sons, Devon Scott Parnell Brown of Austin, William Alexander Gelber of Lubbock, and James Morris Gelber of Lubbock; one sister, Charmaine Hendrick of Houston.
