March 1, 1949 – December 5, 2012

Steven Bethea, 63, of Bryan, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. A time to visit with family will be on Sunday, December 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4201 State Highway 6, College Station, TX. His cremains will be scattered at a later date.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas but spent most of his life in Houston before moving to Bryan in 1992. Steven worked as a Program Director of The Bridge with Twin City Mission, practiced as a Licensed Chemical and Drug Counselor and was a friend of Bill W. His work impacted many people. In addition, Steven served in the United States
Army during the Vietnam War era.

It was a true blessing to know Steven. He brought warmth, humor and genuineness into any room he entered. Some of his proudest accomplishments include helping the community and being the world's best grandpa. Steven enjoyed quiet time on his farm in Kentucky, making trips to the local theater on Sundays or riding his motorcycle. "The Hayriders" could share some funny stories about hanging with Steven as a good friend. Steven's family could share some beautiful stories about him being the light of the room. Everyone has a story about him. Everyone has suffered a loss with Steven's passing. But now, as he told his daughter, he's got a better view. He's with everyone, always.

Steven is survived by his wife, Sharon Bethea, of Bryan; daughter, Heather Bethea of Austin; three beautiful grandchildren, Isaac, Elle and Elise; mother, Gerry Clancy of Bryan; father, Robert Bethea, Jr. and wife Irene of San Antonio; sisters, Diane and husband Eugene Molina, Tara and husband Paul Bullock; and stepfather, Frank Haverda; along with numerous nieces and nephews and six treasured dogs.

He is preceded in death by his "big brother", Robert Pierce Bethea, III. They are having quite the party.

In lieu of flowers, Steven would appreciate memorials made in his name to the Twin City Mission, 2505 S. College Ave. Bryan, TX 77801.
