Byron Bruce Betncourt

Byron Betncourt, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 9, 2020. Byron was born in Galveston, Texas to Tony and Mary Jo Betncourt (Greene) on September 13, 1948. Byron graduated in 1967 from Waltrip High School in Houston, Texas. He went to Texas Lutheran University (1968) and Texas State (1969). Byron was a Merchant Marine from 1969- 1973; he joined the NASI Road Sprinkler Fitters Local Union No. 669 in 1975. Outside of work he was a Master Mason of Buda Lodge #800 and a member of the Ben Hur Shrine Temple in Austin, Texas. Byron is survived by his wife, Linda Betncourt, daughter Deborah Whitehead, sons Michael Marr (Anita) and Dannie Howell, Sister Ana Stone, grandchildren Sabrina Sloan, Derrick Whitehead (Ashley) and Madison, and his great grandchildren Alexis, Hailey, Charles and Harper. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his son Thomas Marr. Byron was retired and enjoyed traveling in his Motor Home to various states and with the Ben Hur Travel Club.

One of my friends at Black Jr. High and Waltrip Sr. HIgh.  You'll always remain my friend.  Memories are treasures.

Byron was just an all-around good guy.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing, and wish all the best for his family. He had such an easy going demeanor and was well liked by everyone. Lots of good memories from so long ago when we were all once young.
