My condolences to the family. Johnny and I didn't hang out a lot together, but I do remember him as a very nice person.
John Weinstein
The suddenness of Johnny's death has taken me by surprise - good to know his family knows he is at peace - may to God of all comfort be near his loved ones - quiet, focused, happy Johnny, RIP.
William Nowlin
Johnny was one of the GOOD guys. I was interested to see he had named his son after friend Ronnie Coston, one of the first friends we lost. Rest on HIGH, Johnny!!!
Ted Carapezza
I am very saddened by Johnny's death. We sat next to each other for three years in homeroom and had a friendly and sometimes heated discussion on the merits of going to A&M vs UT. He was a passionate guy and a friend. My condolences to his family.
Rex Leach (Leach)
Johnny lived across the street from me for many years on Chippendale. I was very close to Johnny and his whole family. We spent hours riding bikes and playing baseball and football in my backyard. (My next door neighbor put up one of the first chain-link fences in the neighborhood so we had a back stop for a change!!). I got to visit with Johnny at the 45th reunion and was looking forward to seeing him at the 50th. Saddened that I won't be able to do that. May God bless his family and give them peace.

Obituary -
John "Johnny" M. Brookshire was called home to be with our Lord on February 11, 2017. He was 68.
Johnny is survived by his soul mate of 26 years, Dana; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Fain & Tonia Brookshire of Houston,TX; daughter and son-in-law, BreAnna Ashley and Craig Eubanks of Galveston,TX; his son, EMN3 (SS) Brett Aaron US Navy; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Ruth and Logan Seth; as well as, many friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Billie Ruth Brookshire, Father, John Dalton Brookshire and his brothers: George Dalton Brookshire and Randall Mack Brookshire.
Born October 23, 1948 in Houston,TX, John was the eldest of 3 boys. Growing up in Oak Forest, he attended Oak Forest Elementary, Black Middle school and later graduated in 1967 from Waltrip High School.
Johnny was passionate about baseball and football. He carried the love of the games into coaching his children's sports teams for many years. His favorite teams to watch were the New York Yankees, University of Texas Longhorn football program and was an active and dedicated member of the Houston Texans fan organization (regardless of how the seasons turned out).
After retiring from CFISD in 2010, he retreated to Rockdale,TX in 2014 where he spent his last years with his sweetheart fulfilling his dream to live in the hill country.
His only complaint in life would be to not hear the government's confession in the involvement of the JFK assassination....but he "is not BITTER!!!!"
John was a loving husband, father and friend. His family and friends will remember his humor, infectious smile, quick wit and story telling. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18th to celebrate the life of Johnny.
Tina Reid (Rose)
Johnny was a very upbeat, friendly, fun guy from his youth to adulthood and I know we all will miss seeing him at the reunions. Seems he was happy and loved in his life. Good to know him. Tina
