Funeral services for Frank Burton, 67 of Magnolia, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas with Rev. Garrett Smith officiating. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Frank Louis Burton was born on October 30, 1948 in North Kingston, Rhode Island, the son of Oscar Frank Burton and Leona Agnes (Beisert) Burton. Frankie served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. After he received his Honorable Discharge, he attended and graduated from the University of Arizona majoring in mathematics and minoring in history. Frankie was united in marriage to Charlene Burns on February 1, 1975 in Hemet, California. He taught for a few years at the Giddings State School before deciding to join the U.S. Air Force in 1977. He retired with the rank of Major on June 30, 1994 after 20 years of service. Frankie was an active member of Abiding Faith Lutheran Church in Tomball where he had served as an elder and assisted with communion. He enjoyed math and had extraordinary memorization skills.
Frankie passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Houston following an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Burton and Leona Schulze.
Frankie is survived by his wife, Charlene Burton of Magnolia; two children, Andrew Burton & his wife, Christie of Richmond, and Janel Ayscue & her husband, Roger of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Mariah Burton of Richmond, Trinity Ayscue and Jeb Stuart Ayscue both of Charlotte, NC; brother, John Burton & his wife, Vicki of Montgomery; two sisters, Christina Bateman & her husband, Rod of Houston, and Marilyn Adams of Giddings as well as several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Burton II, Robert Wshkoski Jr., Shane Wshkoski, Andrew Burton, Jeb Ayscue, Roger Ayscue and Cory Ponder.
