In Memory

Nancy Alexander (Foster)

Nancy's son, Ben Griffin, posted this information to Facebook today:

I’m a professional writer. I’ve written millions of words over the past decade and worked on some incredibly dense, complex projects.

But the 636 words in this obituary are the most difficult I’ve ever written and ever will write.

I will love and miss my mom forever.

Nancy Foster Obituary

In Loving Memory of Nancy Lynne Foster (April 10, 1949 - July 18, 2023)

Nancy Lynne Foster, a woman whose heart overflowed with love, compassion, and talent, passed away on July 18, 2023, in Conroe, Texas. Born on April 10, 1949, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she led a life filled with unwavering dedication to her children and grandchildren, her community, and her passions. As we mourn her departure, we celebrate the legacy of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Jeremy D. Schreiber and Robert A. Schreiber III. Though their absence created an unfillable void, their memories remained eternally cherished in her heart.

She leaves behind her loving son, Gabriel C. Schreiber, and his wife, Michelle, of Portland, Oregon, with whom she shared a bond of deep affection and devotion. Her daughter, Jodi S. Coyle, and her husband, Ryan, of Driftwood, Texas, were a source of joy and pride, and their love brought happiness to Nancy's life. Nancy's son, Benjamin C. Griffin, and his wife, Avery, of Austin, Texas, also held a special place in her heart, and their connections grew strong through the years.

Nancy found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: Margaret L. Coyle, Robert H. Coyle, and Molly M. Coyle. Their love brought light to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Among the many people who were blessed to know her, her cousin and lifelong best friend, Cynthia Shearer, held a special place in Nancy's heart. Their bond was one of deep camaraderie and unwavering support.

Animals held a special place in Nancy's heart, and her love for them knew no bounds. Over the course of her 74 years, she rescued countless dogs, cats, and other pets, including her beloved companions: Annabelle, Lucky #2, Clare, Sloth, and Ginger. Her home became a sanctuary for those in need, and her compassion extended to creatures great and small.

Nancy dedicated over 30 years of her life to the care of others. As an exceptional nurse, she helped thousands of individuals in their times of need. Her healing touch and comforting presence made a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

Since moving to Conroe in 1980, Nancy was an active congregant and volunteer at both St. James Episcopal Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She shared her gifts as a talented flutist and passionate vocalist, using her music to lift the spirits of others and honor the beauty of life.

Her artistic talents were not limited to music alone. Nancy's delicious cakes and renowned cake icing were cherished by all fortunate enough to taste them. As a gifted seamstress, she lovingly created dresses, suits, and Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren, leaving them with precious memories.

A patriot at heart, Nancy demonstrated a devout love for her country, standing proudly for the principles she held dear.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nancy Lynne Foster will be held on August 4 at 1:30 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church chapel. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her are invited to join in honoring the life of a woman whose impact will be felt for generations. Before her passing, Nancy requested that all attendees of her funeral wear bright colors and refrain from wearing black.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Houston Animal Rescue Team (HART), continuing Nancy's legacy of compassion and love for animals in need.

As we lay Nancy to rest, we remember her unwavering love and nurturing spirit. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory forever inspire us to live with the same love and compassion she embodied throughout her extraordinary life.

Nancy was a friend to everyone that she met and a stranger to no one.  She was always funloving and never had a bad word to say about anyone. God bless you, Nancy.  You will be missed by your loved ones and those of us who were your high school classmates.

With love, Libbey Hilliard Scheible

As teenagers, Nancy, Mary Love FrazeeDianne Pace & I were in the Rainbow Girls 🌈 together.

Later, Nancy was the 1st "mother-to-be" that I knew (back in the early 70’s) who knew her baby would be a BOY!  Some of us went to her baby shower in Oak Forest. She named her baby boy-to-be Jeremy. We all called him Jeremy. He did not survive. It was very sad.

When Carrol Johnson located Nancy in 2017 in Conroe, I called & invited her to join our class website & to join us at our 2017 50th class reunion. She told me “no.” That her story “was too sad.” I was speechless.  She didnt explain....She did not join our class website.  She did not come to the reunion.

I never forgot that phone call. After that, she reached out to me & we became friends on Facebook, but, she didn’t ever post much. But that’s how I was able to see today’s post.

RIP, sweet, sweet Nancy. 🙏

Nancy and I were very close in high school and were suitemates on the Guard senior trip. We had so much fun in Guard, going to walk around Old Market Square, Westbury Square, and just being together talking. I tried to find her for so many years and when I finally did, she barely talked about anything other than the old days. She deserved a good life. I'm grateful that she found joy in her children.

Nancy and I were friends in school and had just connected on Facebook within the last year. I knew just from seeing that face who it was. Some people never change much. I am heartbroken we have lost her, but, know she is forever happy now. I will miss her.
