I'm a retired Navy Chief (1968-1993) who has owned my own retail computer sales and service business since 1998. In 2005 I purchased a computer gaming center which I combined with my computer store. Sold the gaming center in 2008 and changed my computer business to on-site sales, service and consulting. I now work from home and enjoy life a lot more!
I have lived on all three coasts and in the middle of the country, finally settling in Virginia Beach in 1971.
I sailed on four aircraft carriers in most of the world's seas, visiting many, many exotic ports, and have seen several of the world's wonders. During that time, I worked on several fighter aircarft types, plus most of the electronics that came out of all of the tailhook aircraft during my time in service. I was also an instructor; quality assurance inspector; and IMRL Manager for two of the carriers I rode.
My naval career spanned several wars and police actions from Vietnam to Desert Storm.
I have a need for speed - therefore, I am a big muscle car nut, and active in the Studebaker Drivers Club, Inc. with my 1964 Studebaker Avanti R1 4-speed. In the past, I was a member of the Chysler 300 Club when I owned a 300K with the cross-ram 413 engine in it. My daily driver back in the late 70's was a 1970 Torino Cobra 429 4-speed.
I didn't enjoy school itself........was usually bored. I always worked so didn't participate in curricular activities. Enjoyed the social aspects though. Dated a lot and had some wild times (and some trouble) with my close friends, Tom Larvin and Dave Montgomery.
I attended the U of H for almost a year before dropping out and joining the Navy. While in the Navy, I acquired my Associates degree in Liberal Arts.

Hey Mike! I, too, have always had a "Need for Speed!" . From my first car (a 62 Valiant) with a built slant six that I called my Mustang Killer (on the street) to my current daily drive, a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. in between I drove a 1970 Torino Cobra 429 4-speed, a 1964 Chrysler 300 with the cross-ram 413 in it, a 1964 Studebaker Avanti R1 4-speed, a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S, and my 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 (It got drowned in a hurricane) . I have participated in the Petty Driving Experience and had a blast driving a Cup race car on Richmond International Raceway. I spent 25 years in the Navy and would have chosen being a race car driver as an alternate career. Both of them require you to put your life on the line.
It is good to hear from you. I hope you enjoy your life in the frigid north. I still like the surf and sun, although I gave up surfing a long time ago. I retired in Virginia Beach after the Navy, and stayed. Three wives, four houses and lots of good times!
Hey, kiddo, wanted to wish you a blessed Happy Birthday before I forget. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Gary, just realized I missed your birthday yesterday. Here’s hoping it was great fun. Enjoy your weekend.

Hey Gary - first of all, Happy Birthday...hope it's a good year for you. I noticed you were into muscle cars and speed. Me too. I was a Mopar guy, and owned two 1970 'Cuda's. Both 383 engines-one factory Hurst pistol-grip, 4 speed with a Dana rear and the other 727 Auto. It was fun on Friday nights to take those out on the streets and race. Different friends had Fords and Chevy's. I liked 'em all.
Friends and I used go to the old Meyer Speedway on Friday/Saturday nights, then hit Playland Park after the races. Sundays would find us down at the quarter mile drag strip in Dickinson. Lots of "B gassers" and "Funny cars."
Two of my friends had Pontiac GTO's (389) It was a blast to ride in those.
My parents owned a beach house in Baytown, so my cousin and I would take his '64 Falcon Sprint down and race guys on an old road outside of town at night (Tri City Beach Road.) Man, those were the days. Grab a 6 pack, crank up "Walk, Don't Run" by The Ventures, and hit the streets.
Anyway, "keep the pedal to the metal!"
Steve
Gary, hope you’re gonna have a super awesome Birthday tomorrow. Missing you buddy. Enjoy.
Happy Birthday Mary Ann! I hope it is a great one! I'll be in Houston.toward the end of the month. Maybe we can get together for coffee and a chat!
Hi Mike. Wishing you an early Happy Birthday. Hope it is a good one. Stay safe. Wish you were closer. I still mess with cars now and again. My daily driver is a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. I lost my Chrysler 300 SRT8 in a hurricane a couple of years ago. We just got thru dodging a bullet with Hurricane Florence. It turned at the last minute and spared Virginia Beach.
I am curious - I see your involvement with scouts, honor guards and the proper disposal of flags. What is your background? Did you spend time in the military, or is this just a passion of yours? Regardless, I think your time spent in these endeavours is well spent.
I hope we can keep in touch more often. Hope to hear from you soon! C ya!
Happy Birthday Gary !

Hi Mary Ann! Long time no hear! I hope you and yours are doing well. I was in Houston last year for the reunion but missed seeing you. Now that I see that you are in Spring, maybe we can touch base again after all these years. I make it back to Houston every year or two and usually stay with my brother out in Sealy. I live in Virginia, settling here after a 25 year Navy career. My sister ended up in OK. Maybe we can get together and have a good chat next time I'm out your way! My cell number is 757-373-2148.
