Jack, praying you have a blessed, wonderful Happy Birthday tomorrow. Enjoy every day.
Here are a few memories I have of Spring Creek: I grew up in North Houston close to Hardy Road-(now Hardy Toll Road)- so on many weekends in the 1960's, my friends and I used to spend time hanging out at Spring Creek - swimming, camping and "plinking" with our "22's". I always remember one could see an old, half-submerged car down in the creek as you drove over the bridge...on the right side as you were driving North. Looked like a Model T.
One summer while we were swimming, someone yelled out "Coral snake!", and we got out of the creek in record time.
Almost every Christmas, my family would pile in the station wagon and head there to find a Christmas tree. We'd park on a country dirt road, and we kids would head out to find a tree - generally a pine. Dad would cut it down, and we'd drag it back to the car and strap it on top and head back home. Mom would always get lots of small pine boughs for the house.
Lots of good memories.....
